New 300SD to the stable!

i was putting this off till i got most of the repair work done to it but i found myself infront of the computer so why not

Well my parents bought a second 300SD..intriguingly its the same year as the one we already have 1982. This one is green on green. Not my color combo of choice. I went stem to stern with a notepad and am in the process or repairing/replacing stuff. I have picture of before we got it here

Paid 1800 for it. It has a rebuilt 617 in it. The body needed some work just had that done I'll put up before/after pics once I find where my digicam went. Pics are pretty thorough feel free to point out things that need fixed. I'll attach my list for those who care to examine. I think they paid 450 for all the body/paint work. Not bad the guy who did the stuff im told is pretty good and is working on multimillion dollar airplanes now.

You guys have any suggestions on modifications/updates etc lemme know..

Thanks!

-Kris

Maybe its just me but I like that color combo. Might I ask where you found the car at? Anywhere in NE Ohio?

I think Green on Green would be my first choice. Certainly near the top!

ha my mechanic had it sitting outside his shop..my friend and I were in picking up parts for my 201 and he mentioned he was in the market for a different car. He said he'd sell him the Green SD for 1800..he ended up turning it down for a 91 Olds 98 Regency Elite..my parents picked it up..

i guess the color combo is not that bad...it kinda grows on ya..

heres the question: Amber, Clear or Smoked Corners?

What do 'smoked' corners signify?

vstech 07-20-2007 09:56 AM

haha..i find this funny...the hatrack in this car (green interior) has faded white. In my other SD..i replaced the hatrack with a tan one from a 91 560SEL...the stock one that was in there faded green...guess where it is now?

painted the grill insert and the mirrors last night..never painted the mirrors before..flat-black with a semi-metallic/reflective sort of finish..came out decent..i'll get pics once i find my camera..still dont know where it went.

ok everybody, finally got some pics. the car is about 90% finished with all the things i wanted to do to it. Now I appear to be working on a front windshield leak of some sort.

Here are some before and after pics of stuff:

Comments? Suggestions etc are always welcome.

The transmission in this car shifts EXTREMELY smooth, almost like brand new. It might not even be a 722.303 (like the Gold SD) It appears to have a very different style vacuum modulator on it. Not a different color but different style as in I could locate a black cap and T to adjust rather it would appear to be some kind of external knob. Its also much quicker than the Gold SD, or so Im told. I dont know.

Thanks

Kris
