606 owners - oil level sender - this may save you some money!
Guys,
Got creative today and decided to replace the OLS. I've been getting the "Oil level at minimum" alert. I jumped to the conclusion that it was a dead sensor and just bought another one. When I took the cover off, I was dismayed to find that the sensor sits behind one of the IC tubes... (Not a problem on 96,97's) I started to take off the wire and it pulled right out of the connector! After I removed the connector, I did a continuity test between the terminal and ground and voila! It's working (short) So, problem is in the connector. Lukily, the connector comes apart. I had to put a slit in the rubber boot to remove it but once off, the plastic connector opens up to reveal a brass terminal. I simply stripped the wire back and soldered it back to the terminal. Closed the connector and secured the rubber boot with some super glue. Works like a champ now and it was FREE! I'm now stuck with a spare OLS though...
