Where is the fuel shut-off valve located?

I purchased a new shut off valve for my '84 190D, but being unfamiliar with both diesel engines and Mercedes alike, I can't locate it in the engine bay. If you have a pic or a detailed description I'd be really appreciative (I look really stupid holding the valve in one hand and scratching my head with the other!)

Ben

It's on the IP

Try #92 in this schematic: http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/Drawings.aspx?bmid=19

Yep, it's on top of the IP, behind where the injector lines come off the IP. It's a gold colored round metal thing about an inch and a half across and about 3/4" high with a vacuum port coming off the side. I would say it's next to the ALDA but your car doesn't have a turbo There's a thread on here somewhere where somebody did this job for the 60x engine. The DIY article on this site is for the 61x IP which has its shutoff valve on the back.

EDIT: Found the thread... Shut off valve replacement W124 602/3 300D 2.5

A word of CAUTION: I'm not sure if your IP is similar but there been several threads about taking precautions for engine runaway when changing out the fuel shutoff. Being prepared to block the air and shut down the engine if this happens. Do a search about "runaway".

Yes. I didn't have any problems with it, but it could happen. However, I heard with the 60x IP's they fixed that issue, but don't bet your engine on it. I had a chunk of 2x4 ready to go at the turbo intake just in case when I replaced mine.
