1995 E300d MPG Question

I am having a fuel consumption issue with my E300D. I don't seem to be getting the mpg that others have been getting with their MB diesels. I am averaging about 25 +- per gallon. I've read about others with the same models getting in the 30's. Is there anything that I could be doing to get better MPG?

What kind of driving do you do? Are your tires inflated properly? Do you have any fuel leaks or smoking/knocking issues?

Mostly city driving. There are no obvious issues with the car. The tires are new and properly inflated and I don't drive the car fast or push it real hard around town.

If you do mostly city driving, then 25 mpg is about right I think. You could always try some injector cleaner to make sure the injectors are spraying at their best. I'm assuming your air filter is fairly clean.

mine

95 e300d 189,000. I drive 70 miles a day with two additional passengers at speeds from 70 to 1 mph all with air on during the summer. I get around 27-28, but I live in VA and the State Police have new rules so I'm very careful about my right foot. Besides, my days of filling the back seat with tire smoke are over (383 Mopar).

My 1995 would get 29-31 on the highway depending on temperature outside. I'd think 25 in the city is appropriate.
