can't remove ignition/find pin to pull it out!
I have the ignition giving me a hard time because I can't pull it out from the steering column. After reading every post on here, I can't seem to find the 'pin' to depress so I can release the whole assembly out. I can see the slit where it should be but no pin.
Obviously when I try to remove the steering wheel for better access the nut that holds it on won't budge. I working on the car listed below and it all started with not being able to remove the three screws to the electrical part of the ignition switch.

So again, with all of my strength, i can't remove the steering wheel bolt. Allen wrench is actually bending.
I have my fingers going along the side of the lock shaft and can't even feel where a pin should pop in or out. help!

Did you check the Giant
Rick, Diesel Giant has a great DIY article with many pictures in the DIY section. Just do a search on it, should be very easy to find. It is on a 300D, but pretty much the same. I did mine a couple of years ago, and didn't have any real issue getting it apart, and then I took my dremel tool and just cut the pin off. It isn't really going to stop any one from stealing the car, and I think the pin in the column puts a lot of extra wear on the switch. I am going to do the same with "Goldie".

Ask and answer my question and add another one....
Well, before I looked at the message board again I finally found the pin. I thought it was thin and long and protruding out the side (insert joke here) but was not the case.
You can actually get an allen wrench through the plastic cover that covers the steering colunm and depress it, so you don't have to remove the wheel or other panels. I'll post a picture. Now for my next question: i put the electrical plug back on the switch, turned her on but no fan. I also didn't have radio and un roof power too. Do i have to connect the dash to see if the switch was the original problem or any other conection. It could be that its not the switch causing my 'no fan' problem for the climate control.? Thanks for the picture and link guys.
