Vacuum leaks and shut off problem

My 1982 300SD will only shut off using the stop lever under the hood. I need to isolate a vacuum leak but do not know how to do it. Where do I look under the hood, and what is the easiest way to do this? What kind of tools will I need? Thanks if you can help. : )

Vacuum leaks

Good morning,

I have a leak in the locking section of my 240D so I have been researching the same problem. Some good help can be had by going to the Diesel Giant site. Try http://dieselgiant.com/mercedesvacuumtroubleshooting.htm
This should get you started.

Ed
