n00b m0ve!!

At lunch I was fueling my daughter's 240D (W115) after putting in some fuel treatment and, like an idiot, managed to install about 3.5 gallons of unleaded regular into the tank before realizing that the green nozzle cover didn't mean 'diesel' at BP.

It only has about 40hp now.

Jeez.

3.5 gallons of RUG in a FULL tank of Diesel should not be an issue, just be sure to use an extra dose of cetane boost, for lubricity and all.

I was putting in some Stanadyne lubricity boost when I did the gas thing so, that part should be taken care of pretty well. But, the poor thing didn't have much power to begin with and now, it will barely get out of it's own way. I'm just glad I looked at the pump when I did.

This stunt is just another brick in the wall; for some reason I've been really distracted lately.

You must be distracted by that 5-speed. Give it to me so that you may once again focus on other things.

But DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, even say the words "vegetable oil" in the proximity of a #2-diesel-burning car.

Cheers, John

I've seen Green, black, yellow and light blue for diesel nozzles.

Thankfully all the stations around here have black gas and green diesel handles.....not too many BP's around here either....I don't think any of them even carry diesel. I usually go to Speedway/Shell/Mobil and they all have the proper green for diesel.

At least you didn't fill the entire tank with it.

I think they should be standard color-coded just like the portable jerry cans are required to be.
red-gasoline
yellow-diesel
blue-kerosene
