Auxiliary fan refuses to spin. 85 300TD

When I went to get the AC fixed, they told me that I needed a new aux. fan. The old one was squeaky, and I found one for $76 on E-Bay.

Of course fan was not bad, and with a bit of oil spins nicely when hooked directly to 12v. I am ever so glad that I did not buy the $400 aux fan the shop wanted to install.

But neither fan will spin. It's not the switch on the drier. I short it out, the compressor clicks, but the fan budges not. I have tried three different ice cube relays for the one in the large holder gizmo, that has only one socket in it to no avail.

I have been told by a helpful guy at the parts house (Finishline) that there is a resistor in the circuit that will prevent the fan from spinning, but I cannot find it. There is also some sort of switch on the water pump.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

The wire from the fan disappears into a bundle of wires that runs up to the Klima gizmo.

What did you jumper? The temp switch on the drier orthe pressure switch on the drier? The temp switch has the pig tail coming out of it that the brown and blue wires connect to. Did you check for voltage between the two wires that connect to the temp switch? The lines that run to the pressure switch are on when the ignition is on.

If the compressor clicks, you're jumpering the wrong switch. Try the other one.

Diagram

Attached is the wiring diagram and list of component locations for the aux fan in your car. Hope it helps. As you will see, there are two fuses, a switch, a relay, and various wires and connectors that all must work for the fan to operate.
