If only diesel engines can talk .... or if only deer can talk .....
..... deer? can someone tell me if those deer "repellants" you put on cars so they don't run infront of you really work? Since only the deers would know, if deer can talk, it'd be nice if they can tell us.... I say this only because it would be good to see concrete evidence, via say b4 and after test pictures of combustion chambers, that its carbonized before, then its clean after ..... same goes for injectors.... if only engines can talk ........

Best "cleaner" so far for lil Blackie has been bio though. No more smoke from the engine, easier starting, and mpg creeped UP a wee bit ( although its barely measurable and likely a statistical anomoly). No more pinging ( not nailing - pinging ) with a B30+ blend either. Trouble is I'm running out of brewed bio ( the enigine REALLY likes it). I dumped 5 gals in the tank this am, 4-5 ozs of Meaner Cleaner and topped off with D2. B30-B40 I reckon. BTW, used diesel purge, but the inj were clean anyway. Was hoping it would clean the chambers. Naw. Bio. Bio is a great de carbonizer it seems. At least for this 606.910 mill. Awesome judging by the way it runs. Will know more if I decided to pop the head off for a freshening this winter. Yes you can use SeaFoam in a diesel. I run a can down the throat of my gassers once in a while ( although GM Top Engine cleaner is the best for that). But I'd use Howes Meaner CLeaner instead. BTW, I can get the engine to stop pinging on hard acceleration by using PowerService with Cetane boost, but it cuts the power down dramatically. No ping, but no power. Bio is the best cleaner imho, bar none. this is brewed bio ( FI will like that), adn there must be some methanol in the mix, since my skin dried up when I spilled some on it this am. My dog wanted to lap the stuff up! Crazy dingo! Last edited by WINGAS; 07-26-2007 at 10:07 AM. |

Won't hurt anything but your wallet. Won't help anything except company profits.
Read the MB shop manual. Actually one Bosch dealer who posted here said that it could stir-up sediment out of traps that was never meant to be disturbed. So, some damage is possible. |

I used SEAFOAM in gas and diesel engines
I used a couple cups of veg/corn oil, 1 qt Diesel Kleen and 1 can of seafoam in my 85 300sd last month - after warmed up. See a diesel purge post for how to. Within minutes started running smoother, then drove it like I stold it (Italian tuneup). Search for my post, Runs nice now.

When you guys say purge with seafoam are you talking about using it in the vaccum tree like a gas car or just filling the fuel filter with it?

Neither. Disconnect the supply and return lines, and run them to a small container. Don't dump any in the intake!

so your talking about using it like the diesel purge product? Are you using the reg seafoam or the diesel version to do this? Do you get alot of smoke from it? My car has 180k on in 300 sdl '87 and its never been purged like this before...

If you want to do it that way, get the real Diesel Purge stuff.

This is the best way to self induce your engine to run away that I know of!
