Are all 126 (81-91) CCUs interchangeable?

Can I use a Climate Control Unit from a later model 126 (85-91) in my 84 300SD?

I realize they look slightly different. I'm not worried about mounting, I'll figure something out, but are all the electronics the same?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the later ones (post '85) are different both electrically and vacuum-wise.

Match the units by part numbers - size does matter erhh atleast with CCU's

Based on what Brian told me when I was troubleshooting mine, the vacuum controls that are operated by the CCU are different, the 300SD (85 and somewhat before) has 6 outlets, and the 300SDL (86,87) has 7. So there's a difference right there, I'd match the part number only.

From my experience they were the same up until 1986. Then they were the same for 86-87-88. Then they changed again 89-91.
An 85 unit should work in a 84 SD. Look at the part numbers and see if they are the same. Also, search in the buy parts section here and you can verify which years they all worked for.

I know this because I have a 1981 unit and a 1985 unit and they are identical. My 86 300sdl uses a different one as all 86-87-88 units. Then I have a unit from a 1990 and it is different from the other two.
