Look, it is simply against the law in most states to ask us about a broken rear glass and not tell us how you broke it.
Many of us need to sleep tonight, and wondering about that might keep us awake.
Sorry for the bad month. It is almost over. Hope next month is better!
Oh, and I have no idea of the cost. That is one thing I haven't broken yet.......

I was quoted by a glass guy about a wagon with a broken rear window that came into the shop about $250, but that was for a window with no defrost. I've seen the rear wagon windows on ebay for aroud $150, but the shipping is going to hurt, and it may show up cracked.

I scour the local junkyards for one, and call a glass person. It's one of the few things I would let someone else do on my car.

Nothing exciting. I was loading a sheet (4'x8') of MDF onto the roof rack, as I've done many times. I lean it up against the back and slide it up. This time, as I was setting it down, the wind caught it and it fell out of my hands. I don't know how exactly it broke the glass as it hit the metal (4' wide sheet). I'm guessing it flexed and hit the rear window wiper and that broke it.

Thanks. I don't even want to think how next month could be worse. I'm not sure my Benz will make it.

I have a few glass shops around my studio (I'm a sculptor), and I've done some welding for one of the guys with a motorcycle, so maybe he can cut me a break. If it's more than ~$200, I might be parting it out since this plus my transmission issue won't be worth fixing. Thanks for the info all.

I hope you fix it, but as for the parting out- where are you, and how're the tailites seriously, I may be interested in the whole car...if the price is right...

I am not sure the tranny issues you have, but there is a ton of info on vac leaks, etc. here. my tranny shifted like crap when I first got the car- then I hooked up the vac right, and it improved.

after reading a lot of info, I adjusted it in just right for my driving...

Tranny woes:
New member - (with transmission problem)

Sorting through the posts is a bit hard for me. I've worked some on my Honda (which seem to be put together with the mechanic in mind), but I have no clue when it comes to most of the Benz stuff, like the vacuum system.

I appreciate it, but it's too far for either of us to drive to save a few bucks. I was trying to avoid it, but it looks like I'll be dipping into my poker bankroll. I just moved up stakes too .
