I had searched this forum a number of times before I even joined. I'm sure that I'm not unique.

It's hard to remember my first search, simply because there have been so many.

And just so you know, there is no "inner circle."

I actually found this website by doing a search and actually got the best help and discussions regarding the subject. When doing a search of this forum, I won't use the search function available here. I was reminded by Brian C that the best way to do a search is to use an outside search engine with "mercedesshop.com" part of the search query. Often times I find my answers by stumbling upon it by just casual reading of the topics in the first few pages of threads.

Fantastic Site!

Been lurking, searching, reading, recently joined with a few q's promptly answered and you guys fixed all my problems! Some abrasiveness is expected, we are all human.

You guys are good!

I could not believe the amount of profanity and viciousness on bw. It reminded me a lot of the Howard Stern forum when it was around. I can't believe the moderators allow it.

When the site was new, and there weren't as many duplicate search answers, it was easy to find your way around. Now it requires more.....finesse, shall we say? Please realize that my last search in quotes will now also come up in any search for bowden cable, transmission, 82, 300sd, adjust....or any combination. Posting a list of work on what you do to your car in the forums brings up the thread where you stated the work performed, but perhaps no info on the problem related to the procedure. Sorting through 500 posts when you don;t know what to specifically look for is just asking the newer members to go somewhere else for help.
That's true... I've not had anything said to me that was "abrasive" per se, never that offensive... but it does make me hesitate to post occasionally if I know that the topic's already been covered... the problem with me isn't always that I flat-out can't find it, it's just that I'm frustrated with the car by the time I'm searching for the answers, and everything my search turns up is 75% related but not exactly my problem... sometimes when you're at your wit's end with a Benz, you just need one or two people to come up with a custom-to-your-problem answer... I've never had a problem getting that before, but it would be nice if everybody knew felt like they'd get the same attention.

Like I say, 90% of the time it's no issue and I don't want to step on any toes. But that is a tad worrisome sometimes... end of speech.

Can anyone point out to me in the linked threads where 240Joe accepted an offer for somebody to pay for an oil analysis of his/her/its 240D?

"im never changing my oil" thread discussion
Hi, I'm back....let's talk about NOT changing your oil...
I'm never changing my oil again....PERIOD!
Why did someone close my oil change thread?
Why do the oil change fananics hate me so?

I'm even surprised about the claim he'd even given out his address since he was so elusive about where his car was.
