wow, that's a thought....

....a diesel CRX. i had an 88 Si that was my high school graduation present. drove it 160000 miles and then sold it for $5500 ten years later. the only problem i EVER had was a failed ignitor that was covered under a recall.

Replacing something 5 times is called throwing parts at it. Computers don't just blow up on their own, something had to cause it to fail.

I keep wishing for the Honda diesel pickup (a real one, not the pretend pickup Ridgeline). At least this is halfway there. Maybe I can swap it into something.
Who knows how the emissions stuff is going to work. I know my Prelude is a joy to work on compared to the Benz, and I can get the FSM in print for ~$62. About the mpg, I wonder what it would be if cars weren't so heavy now. The old CRX's used to get ~52mpg highway on regular because they were so light.

Me too, me too. I would be happy with something the size of an S-10 with a 4 cylinder turbo.

Hopefully they come up with a better transmission than the one that comes with their V6 gas engines.

Do you mean the auto or the manual, the manual my brother has runs real fine and slick here.

Autos are bane, sometimes they run fine, seen couple of VW Passat and Camrys crap out with the auto here as well.

It frustrates me that a company with no prior diesel experience at all (Honda)
believes that diesels are the next big step in fuel efficiency while a company with decades of diesel experience (DCX/M-B) does relatively little.
Sorry, Honda has diesels in their vehicles around the world, but not in North America. Some of their latest diesel vehicles I have seen are in the UK. I have driven a CR-V and a Legend diesel there.

In Canada we don't have the diesel B-Class, but lots of SMARTCARS with the diesel.

Yes, it is really frustrating. Overall, I find Honda's products to be quite reliable and will certainly buy one with a diesel engine. I have gone through several Legends with over 350K km without any major problems. I hope they have improved their 4spd auto trans as well, as I have one in my TL, but have not had problems with it.

Autos are so that you can eat your burger, hold your big drink, and talk on the phone while you are 'driving'.

The 97 E300D I owned for a few months was the biggest peace of crap I ever owned. Hard to say if some of it was the previous owner but all the problems were related to poor or over engineering. Hopefully, the Jap's can make the thing without a $400 turn signal relay or seats that go snap, crackle, pop or a $400 rear view mirror that's held together by dollar store, undersized plastic tabs. With MB older is better, my 85 CD is a great car and so is my 90 SDL but I think that American Motors Of Germany (AMG) has out-sourced all their engineering and parts to some elephant jockeys in India.

The delivery date is the big one here. I will believe it when I can drive one at the dealer.

The emissions controls are one of the advantages to this car. The thread on this topic that I posted last year or so explains this. I like honda's approach to the emissions issues much better than MB.

I will be waiting with a pile of green. That will be the last issue, how much?
