If it were repetitive in a precise pattern, consistently without variation, I'd agree. But without an audio clip, I'm assuming the data provided is approximate. I've heard lifter noise in a pattern similar to what he describes but it wasn't as rhythmic. Top center of the valve cover wouldn't coincide with the chain, either.

Stupid question: What type of oil (brand & viscosity) was used for the change that caused this new noise?

Atif, try the Mobil-1 on your car... with new lifters it should be quiet. No oil treatment of any kind should be needed. I've heard of more than one car that had the noise go away simply by switching to M-1. (15W-50. Did I mention 15W-50?)

Thanks gsxr, I will try Mobil 1 15w50 at the next oil change which will be in a week's time.

Atif

Good evening, thanks for the responce. I have to admit I used too thin an oil. I showed my son the wrong oil, it was 5w30. I just now changed the oil. I used 15w40. I took it for a quick run and it already sounds better. I am finding it's alot like my wife. I better treat it the right way or I'll hear about it. thanks again. This site is excellent.
