debating a replacement 300D
Well ever since my 300D was T-boned, i have been shopping for a replacement 300d/240D and i think i found what i am looking for.
I found a 300D with 117k on it, interior is palamino and is in very good shape. no ripped seams, the floor mats have some stains that might come out. Dash is a little cracked, but i have one from my 300D that is perfect. It started right up from having sat there for i have no clue how long. paint is really good, only one scratch/dent that is 1 inch long and will be unnoticeable when touched up. Vacuum system works perfect, all door locks work, cruise works, all windows work, the Bad No sunroof, Non-turbo, AC not working, no spare, bad tires, fuel gauge and temp gauge dont work. The fog lights don't work. I will fix the AC, have new tires from my 300D, and Euro's too. I offered him $800 and he said that the owner would take no less than $1500. is that reasonable? i think so, i was just testing the waters with $800, and will probably offer $1300 next. If anyone is selling a 240/300D in TX, AR, MO, OK, OH, PA, KY, or TN send me a PM with your info. i am looking to spend up to $4000. Thanks, Dan

I think that not having a sunroof is a big plus!! I have 2 with sunroofs that always leak after a rain. And I have done a butt-load of detective work looking for the reason. The wagon is no doubt a sunroof issue.
I go out to little China, who has no sunroof, and she is dry as a bone!! Second, I would never sweat not having a turbo. I have had a non-turbo wagon, and it was just fine compared to my '85. Don't fear the non-turbo! Especially after driving a 240. 240's are very relaxing to drive, and while no speed demon, you always get to where you're going, and can keep up with the traffic flow. NA 5 cylinders have that much and more. NA 5 cylinders are also easier to work on than the 617.952, just as the 4 cyl is easier than them all. There are benefits. A bad interior and exterior can't as easily be repaired, but your other potential issues can be. So, even at their asking price, if it came to that, wouldn't be that bad of a deal. Other's will chime in I"m sure. Keep us posted...... **edit** what color? btw, you don't mention the year, but being a NA 300d, you are in the 77-81 range. Some 80's and all 81's will have ACC III. 77-80+/- will have ACC II. The Evil Servo!!

Going by your description, sounds pretty good. I wouldn't take anything less than 3 grand.

It is a beige/dark white exterior with tan/palamino interior. 1980 year, with the older style AC controls (not sure of the years it came with these but i was thinking 1977-1980) can someone clue me in as how to identify the dreaded servo that i should avoid?
Thanks all

Based on what u said about the decent paint that the body is rust free or at least minimal rust....
I guess $1500 is ok... probably the top end of what I would offer. Remember, u still have things to do with the car after u get it. How many miles??? He'll probably take $1200.....

I think the CC servo on that model is located in the area between the passengers side headlight and the inner fender. If the buttons on the CC inside are arranged vertically, WATCH OUT.

yea they are vertical, with the AC ON/OFF switch by itself off to the side. It has 117k on it, i hope that the AC thing wont kill this deal.
