Little vacume diaphrams

O.K. did the search..... but can't find where I can buy the diaphrams for the vacume pod(s) in the climate control system. Got Center Vent problems. Gee, that's a new issue here.

There's a guy in TN (I think) who specializes in selling the vacuum rebuild kits and related items but for the life of me, I can't remember his name. (George??) He didn't have a website the last time I bought a kit. Someone else here should remember his name and number.

Found it. Here's a thread with George Murphy's info:

No air from center dash vent. Slow trunk latch. Vacuum related problem? PSE pump?

I'm pretty sure its George Murphy. A Google search will give you the contact info. I need to get around to doing this myself.

If you're handy, the pods can be repaired with a bit of rubber glove and the glue sold for wet suits. Steve

Don't even bother to repair the dual pods. The repair will leave the pod with insufficient travel and the system will never work properly again.

The single pods can be repaired with the diaphragms from George Murphy. But, the duals have been the one's with the problem on all of mine. Not a single one of the single pods have failed and I purchased about five of them.

O.K.

Then the alternatives are, I guess, buy the whole POD or just disconnect it and wire the center flap open ??

BTW, is it easier on the 126 ('86) to get at the POD. All I've read on the 124's and others is, that it's kind of a PITA, but do-able.

Are you sure the center vent pod is NG? Did you attach a Mityvac directly to the pod? It's not easy to get to that pod...........sits way behind the CCU..........need very tiny hands...........fortunately I never had to do it.

No. Don't have a Mighty Vac. Just moved to a condo and all my manly garage possession's are history.

It has all the symptoms of NFG pod. All other vacume stuff works fine. Locks, vents, trans, engine shut-off etc.

Got tiny hands and have had the CCU out so many times I should have put a zipper in it. With the CCU out can I get to it and just plug it and disable it ? And wire the flap open ??

Without a Mityvac, how do you know the switchover valve is good and the pod is bad?

If anything else is leaking, the pod may not function properly. You really cannot come to any conclusions without a Mityvac.

I don't know if you can wire the flap open if you remove the pod..........never went in there.........thankfully.

Well I've done the center pod and, due to its orientation and location, by the time you disconnected the actuator arm and tried to wire it open, you could have fixed it. Also, if you wire open the center vent pod then you mess up your heat functions so you will have to go back in there at least twice a year.
