You DONT adjust the ALDA. Period. The ALDA compensates the fuel mixture for boost level. It is basically a fuel cut off switch at 0 boost it cuts most of the fuel. At max boost you get max fuel. Adjusting the ALDA will APPEAR to make the car go faster but it is just a bandaid for the underlying issue.
1. ALDA cleaning 2. Linkage Adjustment 3. IP Timing 4. Injectors poptested 5. Boost adjusted. Then and maybe only then adjust the ALDA. It wont hurt anything to do it now but you will never be able to get it back to factory specs.

I agree that you need to check other things first. But....
Modern fuel has significantly less energy than it did when these pumps were tuned, combine that with normal pump wear and you have less power than you should. IF the ALDA is a virgin (Still has the seal around the nut), it certainly won't hurt to give it a 1/2 turn CCW. |

Question answered...
To answer the question. The ALDA is located on top of the injection pump
It looks like a square can with a line going into it and either a black cap or a lock nut with a screw on top. What everybody is saying is that if you want to adjust the ALDA you will have to remove the black cap. Then loosen the lock nut and turn the screw counter clockwise about 1/2 turn. Tighten the lock nut and then try the car. You can keep adjusting the screw ccw, but make sure that you do not force it. If you break the screw loose from the insides of the ALDA you will have ruined it and really messed up the fuel going into the engine. Other things you should do before adjusting the ALDA are to take off the line from the ALDA that goes to the over boost switch (black can with a wire on it) and the line that goes from the switch to the intake manifold. do NOT remove the banjo bolt rings (ring shaped things on the end of the line) when you remove the lines. Use some brake cleaner or card cleaner to flush out the lines. You should also blow some air through the switch to make sure it is not clogged. once you are done, put the lines back on. You should also have your valves checked and adjusted. Once you have done this, you can buy a turbo pressure gauge and see how much boost you are getting. you are probably only getting 5~6 psi at full boost. this can be adjusted to 12~13psi You should do some searches on these topics. There are a lot of posts that describe how to do the tasks I outlined. Good luck
