whiskeydan- it's definitely NOT just an audible thing...you can feel it. i'd describe it as sharp and i guess would also say it's "stiff." not sure how other wagons compare, but with the car at rest, i can jump up and down on the rear bumper (or in my case, trailer hitch) and effect about 3" of deflection. if i then hop off, the car bounces once more and then stops completely.

resolution!

a scant (2) years later, and my rear SLS is now as it should be.
the culprit? the actuators / struts. (it's always the last thing you check...and, it's not ALWAYS the accumulators).

found a guy who was selling a pair of low mileage struts for $100. took a gamble and bought + installed 'em...and she's driving like a dream.

just goes to show that the struts can (and do) seize.
