IP Rear Screw missing...
Went to do a pump adjustment with help of member Paul66CT this past week. Loosening the rear screw on the pump was tough...because it wasn't there! Thanks PO! Obviously its better to have one (need to figure out a PN or scrounge one).
Do you think not having one will affect anything in the meantime? Anyone know what the P/N or size is? Anyone have an extra? :D Thanks, dd |
I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. To install it, you've got to remove the oil filter housing, and I'm sure you'll definitely look forward to that task.
The three flange mounted screws should be sufficient. |
Just another one of those over engineered Mercedes things.;)

It's been off since before you owned it so I'd bet something would have happened by now if it were going to.

That bracket is a bugger to install on the 616, I can only imagine how fun it would be on the 617:eek: Worse than the bracket on the back of the starter motor.:D

Oil filter housing off to put that screw back in?! Thats a definite 'I'm not worrying about it'.
Maybe this is a German mechanic trick...once you get that screw off, leave it off for the next German mechanic who needs to mess with the pump. thanks, dd |
