there has never been a pull a part anywhere that i was able to use.

in fact it is hard to find a salvage yard any more.

i have been getting all my used parts here lately.

oh actually there is a repair shop that keeps about a hundred cars around that will sell a part now and then here.

I wonder if pull a parts are legal in all states. Even up in Ct. there are very few. Mostly everything up there is restricted to "lemme check the yard and computer to see if I have one" kinda yard. Then you have to wait atleast half a day for THEM to pull it for you. Sometimes you come to the conclusion that each of you was thinking of a different part, and it's wrong, whatever... I hate that..

Used just means someone else wore it out already. Why do all that work to install a mostly worn out part? Certain things, like oil cooler.....fuel tank.....an entire engine.....are ok. But for most parts....new is better in my opinion.

I do have some used parts.....mostly cosmetic though, light assemblies....a mirror.....a door....trim pieces....etc. Mechanical parts I 99% of the time use new.
I agree, unless you are REALLY trying to save money, they are just more trouble than they're worth. If your time is worth anything, just order what you need an wait for the UPS truck to show up. BTW, an engine is the last thing I would buy from a junkyard, way too much labor.

If I absolutely need the part and can't find it anywhere, I go here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=F.A.P.+Inc.+Ranger,+TX&ie=UTF8&t=k&z=17&om=1
About 1.5 hrs. west of Ft. Worth and nothing but MB's. He has several 190SL's up to W124's I don't know if you could call it a Pick N Pull though.

I bought a four cylinder from local place once for an 85 Ford Escort, I had bought, simply to put a motor in an flip for a profit. I got four bad engines, before getting one that was in servicable condition. Good thing I was doin' my own labor, and was only 17 years old, with lots of patients, and ambition. After a total of 5 swap outs, on the same car, for the same job, I grew extremely tired of the whole idea of what I was set out to do in the beginning and sold the car for a few hundred bucks more than I was into it for after everything. It wasn't worth all the trouble I went through to do the whole thing for the few hundred bucks I profited, but I was happy to be rid of the whole thing...

Tell ya what. Now that summer school is over I might be able to drive to Speedway and check out the MB section. To try and save you some gas money.
Ill try and sneak in the camera
