How do I remove a lighted sun visor

without damage in an 81 300SD. I assume the wiring is run through the header panel, but how does that come off and where do the wires run to.

The wires go to where the clip is. If you study the clip closely, you will notice two metal contacts in the clip - that is where the light gets its power from. You can unscrew the entire visor without worry.

I need to get the clip off too. Is there a plug behind the clip or is it hard wired?

Look straight up at the clip and you will notice a square hatch. Using a small screw driver pry it open from the windshield side of hatch, it's hinged on the other. Look straight up through the opening and remove the small phillips head screw. The removal procedure will then be obvious to you.

It's actually wired into your overhead interior light. I just had mine off a few days ago....by some strange coincidence..

The sun visors in my car are toast. Can I order new somewhere and/or are they reasonable?

I just bought a good pair for $45 off of EBAY. They look good, but I have not received them yet. Will let you know. This post comes at a good time as I was wondering about how to change them out once they get here.

Here's the job for a 88 560SL. Mercedes should have used the same philosophy on the W123.
