I agree with everyone that the 240D is probably the most car for the money (provided the rust isn't an issue). It will be the easiest/cheapest to work on.
You do realize that anything in this price range is going to eat up at least several $100 to a couple $1000 per year just to keep it in reasonable condition? You are buying a hobby. Seriously, if you just want $2000 worth of carefree transportation, buy a old civic. |

One looks better.
Two would have been my first choice, but since you can't see it BEFORE you buy...makes it a no go. Three, well, all I can say is Run, Simba, Run, and never go back.
