85 w123 owners - picture request

Dear all 85 w123 owners:

The antenna on my 85 was broken... not only was it broken, but the harness was not connected because it was the older large style harness on the antenna, and the smaller style on the car.

I go to put the correct 201 part number antenna in, and realize that there is a problem - the standard hirschmann connector that is common for w123 cars is not what is used on this correct antenna for my car. In fact, I have to use a black rubber antenna grommet, not the chrome piece at all. Bummer.

Im just not sure if it is right. Im curious if anyone would mind snapping and posting a picture or two of your antenna grommet. I dont need pics from inside the trunk, just pics from the outside of the car.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

JMH

I'd have been happy to, but my '85 is a wagon.
These antennas are great when they are working......

Mine's been replaced with a non-hirschmann. At least it works.

Pictures

Here you are. Native Hirschmann, 1985 300D-T (W123). Both photos taken from the left side of the car. Trunk lid is ajar.

First photo looking slightly towards the rear of the car.

Second photo looking slightly towards the front.

Hope that helps you.
