It is normal for oil pressure to be between 1 and 2 bar at warm idle, and should slam up to 3 bar fairly quickly as you raise the RPM.

No, you need a new engine!

Just kidding. It's 100% normal.

1 sounds low at idle. Is this at full operating temperature?

Oil pressure at idle should be 3 when the engine is cold. When the engine warms up and is idling it should be between 1 and 2. If it stays at 3 all the time your idle rpm might be too high.

I've never had a MB that idled with less than 1.5 on the gauge.

i was going to post this

I am around 1.6-1.75 or so at idle. It pegs out as soon as I am on the go pedal, and it drops pretty quick when I come off the pedal to begin braking....I have read you watch the speed at which it drops when you come off the pedal to determine the health of the engine. A quick drop isn't as good as a slow steady drop to idle.

However, shamefully I have been using the wrong weight Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and will change that in a few miles. Will that possibly change my pressure?

I know it is at 3 during hot running. I'll check the cold and hot during Idle and let you know. I know I have had differences in oil pressure using different brands of oil filters as well.

Mine idles at about 0 to .3 on a hot day. If its really hot and I come off the freeway it sits at 0. When cold its at 3. When I accelerate it goes to 3. My problem is my oil pressure sender....its dying. It jitters and skips a lot too when I am slowing down. Oh well....I'll replace it when it fully breaks.
