stupid move....

Siphoned some diesel tonight from a parts car.....

and swallowed a bit.

Nothing like "diesel burps" for the rest of the evening....:dizzy2:

That's why Lance doesn't like WVO :)

I'd chase it with a couple gallons of milk.

I chased it with about 6 cups of water, then instantly chased it out of my stomach.

Called the Posion Control number just in case, guess as long as you swallow it instead of actually breathing the liquid in, you're fine. Breathe into your lungs, and that's another matter. :grim:

And FWIW, it's gotta be pretty hard to kill yourself by drinking diesel....I bet the little bit I got into me wasn't near the bottom of my neck by the time I was on all fours barfing uncontrollably.

ForcedInduction 08-13-2007 01:53 AM

If you swallowed a mouthful or more, I'd call the poison control center and see what they recommend you do.

Petroleum certainly isn't part of a normal diet. :D

EDIT: Good to see you called them.

Thanks Lance, see above. :)

next time

next time chase it with some Lucas Oil for lubricity, or MM oil as recommended by several here....You may also want to do a diesel purge!

Just kidding, but you definatley win the award for taking our Diesel obsession to the next level.

Also, if you have to fart, stay away from open flames.....

vstech 08-13-2007 11:04 AM

wasn't there a link here about a guy who would steal Diesel fuel from cars to drink? ... practice practice practice...

I would be more concerned about this issue if he had swallowed gasoline....

Remember it is only the vapours that will combust unless you have high heat and high compression.....

rrgrassi 08-13-2007 11:18 AM

Just watch out for the sooty bumper!

Seriously, glad you are OK.

WINGAS 08-13-2007 11:21 AM

Next time throw a few tablespoons of baking soda in 8 ozs of water and guzzle it. Wait ten seconds and make sure you have a clear shot!

gives DIESEL PURGE a new meaning.!

vstech 08-13-2007 11:23 AM

can you say flaming volcano! ya forgot the red food coloring...

dunl 08-13-2007 11:26 AM

:D:D:D

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm fine today, and hopefully the smell of the engine bay isn't going to make me feel sick each time I work on the cars.

I'll try to remember the baking soda next time. :idea3:

The Germans made fine autos....

...but God made man an even tougher 'machine' than a diesel Benz!
:D
Hard to believe? :dizzy2: Nah! Try removing an engine while it's still running-surgeons do it every day. ;)

Show me the the car that has driven on the same 'motor' for EVEN 50 years of 'daily driver' use without a replacement!

Yep, God built a better 'machine'.

:behead:

Unless you're one of us Godless heathens (TM) who believe that it was millions of years of selection that did it.

After all, our bodies are quite imperfect. Made in God's image?

In all seriousness, keep this stuff to OT.

I can't stand the smell of diesel on my skin never mind in my mouth. Yech! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/wu...smiley-008.gifIt takes me more than a day to get rid of the smell on my skin. Maybe it's just that I get used to it by then?http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/fr...smiley-017.gif
