Exclamation oil issues

guys and girls,

off the air filter housing in a 123 mercedes 1980 300sd is a pipe that goes down to the oilpan correct?

the mount that the air filter sits on cracked....therefore is it feasible that the air filter housing was bouncing around so much as to spray oil everywhere?

i jury rigged the mount and now no more bouncing and there is very little play in the movement of the air filter housing...

on a sidenote i just changed my filters...air/fuel and when i pulled the air, there was one section toward the passenger side that was really black from blowby

im assuming as with all diesels this is relatively norma...

also when i wiped out the filter housing it was damp with oil/....

should i worry?

i have to trek to austin tx this week....

lyle in california

Normal to have oil in air filter from blowby.

Oil spraying everywhere is another thing. Where was it spraying? Any pictures? Oil cooler lines can spray oil.

You don't need to "worry" about it, but you should fix it. You can order the replacement parts from this web site.
