I've heard folks enjoy Bilstein HD's in front, regulars in rear, not familiar with the SLS system.

I second the bilsteins. I have Boge on my 300D and billsteins on the 300sd, better by far.

No shocks on the rear of the TDT, just accumulators and hydraulic cylinders.

HDs, IMHO. Comforts are a bit too soft.

How hard to replace

If I ever get my charging system fixed, I would like to change out mine. How difficult?

I have bilstein HDs on my 300D and I like them, but I mostly drive on pretty smooth highways. They might be a little harsh is you spend a lot of time on rougher roads.

I don't know which would be better matched with the SLS system in the back of the TD.

On the W126? Super simple do a search. You have to remove the back seat to get the rears.

Bilsteins do not screw around you get 150K or more from a set.

Bilstein HD. If the rear is squishy you probably need new accumalators.
