a 2" ball is about the minimum you can buy.

A small boat and trailer will not weigh much more if any than a car with four adults in it. Aerodynamically the small boat will hide behind the roofline too.

a 14' fishing boat? no problem.

in a 220d or 240d you cannot be in a hurry in any case.

I agree. The only OE hitch is the phallic one.

1 7/8 is what most of the small stuff takes.

You can probably tow an aluminum boat with that, or maybe a jet ski. Nothing heavy.

And you certainly shouldn't tow something with a 2" receiver with a 1 7/8 ball!! Too much slop, and it can slip off......

Yep its amazing what a difference that 1/8 makes.

We use a 1 7/8 ball on the fork of the lift as a universal, to move stuff around the yard. They will not slip out if you are only going 4mph and you lift up.

But why would he need a 2in ball on that thing? What the heck was he towing with that 70hp beast?
What do you mean..? 2" is the regular, standard sized ball. Every one of those little boat trailers is a two inch ball. My car trailer has a 2 1/4 on it so I have to change out the ball for the bigger one if I want to pull it. I just set up another adapter with the othe rball, so all I have to do is choose the one I need.. 2 inch ball is the standard, for small boat and utility trailers..

Not for the small stuff. When I worked in marine supply I sold a ton of 1 7/8, lots of stuff is 1 7/8. I wish it all was 2.
