Hi All. I have a 82 300D.What RPM's arre your cars running? Mine will run 2800rpm @ 60mph and 3300@ 70mph. Does this sound about normal?Sometomes I think I could use anouther gear???? I suppose if you change the rear end out it would be a dog around town? Thanks for any input.

Sounds normal to me as well... I got 29 mpg one tank and it was 100% highway running between 70 and 75 (like you said around 3300 rpm)... if I had a 5th gear I wonder what kind of mileage on that same run... maybe mid 30s?

My 5sp 190D 2.5 turbo does around 95kph at 2000 rpm in fifth. At 3000 I'd be doing around 130kph.

i cant go look now but there are lines underneath the speedometer #'s. there is i believe a space or a break in the sequence of the previous "lines", that is a reference of where your shift points are

It's perfectly normal.

I never liked the engine speeds on the SD, so, now I run a 2.88 diff and 215-70-14 tires.

The engine speed is 2850 at 68 mph and it's happy as hell at that speed.
