Stupid cruise control question
I just bought an 82 300D and, please forgive my ignorance, but how do you engage/disengage the cruise control? It looks like a 4 way rocker type switch in the control stalk. I see the accelerate/decelerate function, but do i pull it towards me to engage it? Do I have to keep it held (or pushed) for a certain length of time?
Thanks in advance everyone.... |

On my 126 it's a separate stalk. Up to engage cruise or accelerate while in cruise. Down to decelerate while in cruise.
If it doesn't work at all, or takes off on you, you may need to reflow the solder joints on the control board in the driver's footwell.

spark... is correct, for up and down. Push away to disengage, pull toward to resume. These things are prone to fail.

That is correct, but to clarify: when you want to initially engage the cruise, push the lever up and hold it for a few seconds until you feel it take over the peddle. if you push it away (or touch the brake) it will disengage. Pulling it towards you will resume the previous speed (unless you have shifted out of drive). Pushing is up or down will increase/decrease your speed if it is already engaged.
