The steel fuel lines coming from the diesel tank are stacked in the engine bay; which one is return/send?

The return has the cigar hose attached, and supply has the primary filter attached.
I am thinking the return is the upper line, based on position of the cigar hose, and how the supply line runs under it to attach to the primary filter, then to the lift pump.
