|
1987 300 TD Wagon need advise
have a 1987 300Td wagon, 209K, loss of power and smoking badly has gotten progressively worse, think it could be a turbo problem, but not 100 percent sure, any input greatly appreciated, live in Queens, NY, anyone know of good turbo rebuilders for me locally?

what temp does the car run at? how is your oil pressure? how does the cooling liquid look? how clean is the cooling system? how much oil does the car use?

Smoke and mirrors
Get someone else to rev the engine until it smokes, then you go back and check out the smoke. Fuel, coolant, or oil? Unburned, excess fuel causes black smoke, coolant leaking into the combustion chamber causes white smoke, oil causes gray smoke. (I'm simplifying, of course, but you get the idea.) Then post the results here.
