Fan / cooling Question
After driving ( temp displays 80 ) should the fans in the engine area continue to run after the car is turned off in order to cool the engine area?
I have had previous cars that would let the fan run for about five minutes after turning the engine off. The hood of the car stays very warm for a long time. Just want to make sure that this is normal. The car is a 1999 E 300 turbo diesel. The fans do run when I start the car...the a/c is turned on. Thanks Barry |

I can say that my '96 shuts the fans off with the engine, regardless of temperature. Your car uses different parts to run the fan, but I haven't seen anything in the FSM to imply that yours runs with the key turned off.

My 99's aux fan have never run on after the key is turned off.

I assumed that this was the case, or I wouldn't have even replied.
My car cools off pretty quickly at home, parked in its air-conditioned garage. |
