Need Help 1997 E300D - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Hi,
The check engine electronics light is coming on in my 1997 E300.Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?Also,when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and to the right it makes a squealing noise.Any ideas on what that could be?

Steering pump may be low on fluid and making noise when turned to its bump stop. It has a dip stick.

You need to get your CEL read with a OBDII scanner.

First get the codes read.

Second probably the pump, belt, or rack.

I checked the power steering fluid,its full.I just made an appointment at the mechanics,so I will just get him to check it out tomorrow.

I'm going to take a guess that the mechanic will tell you the code is for the EGR......

If that's the case, take it off, clean it (and your intake manifold) out, and do a search on the forums for the EGR bypass.
