Blue Smoke....

Last night around 2AM coming home I found the highway empty no cops got a little excited and got the car over 200 Kms/hour and kept that speed for over 10 minutes....

This morning the car started up fine, ran smoother but lots of blue smoke from the tail pipe and smell of burning oil......what have I done to my baby??

Took it straight to the mechanic, initial thoughts were that its turbo seals but later I got the call that its leaking oil from the head gas kit....he couldn't tell the real damage, he thinks it could be something as silly as just a blown head gas kit or it could be something BIG like a broken ring or something...but the car ran fine and smooth even after it was smoking..

Any ideas...I'm scared, love the car but can't spend more than 3000 bucks...i'm in trouble if its going to be more..

The mechanic with his hands on the car is going to be able to tell you a lot more than any of us here on the Internet. That's probably why people haven't responded to your question.

If you were going to diagnose the problem yourself, we might be able to give you a list of things to check. But since your mechanic is doing the work, we expect he knows how to do these things.

So really all we could give you is a list of things that might have gone wrong, such as:

- Blown oil seal somewhere due to high crankcase pressure, due to excessive blowby
- Blown head gasket
- Broken ring
- Maybe a vacuum pump issue

What your mechanic has told you leads more toward the blown head gasket, since you may be leaking oil to the outside of the head when not running, and to the inside of the cylinder when running.

But we don't know - we're on the Internet........

I never make a comment on a problem on a car when I don't even know what kind of car it is. The people on this site are the best you will find but even they need a little help when diagnosing a problem.

Sir

As one Canadian to another, I think you are being pretty tough on this forum. I have received some wonderful help here ... but it helps to learn the culture and follow the rules.

'Nuff said - now which shop did you take it to in Toronto? There are some indies that know these cars well and some that are pretty scary

You should have someone jerk your head off and see if something is warped in it.
