OK...the easy out would not work at all, I took it to a machine shop. He got about 80% of it out, I think. The threads are usable, but I am not sure how much of the bottom of the insert is totally smooth. It will thread and seat, so I have to proceed because I have to put the motor in the car TODAY so i can move it to our new house tomorrow.
I will let you know if it leaks. Thanks for the advice!

did you get to the dome piece? if you can get that out you should be fine.
