if you are willing to spend that kind of money that is fine but with an easy out and a vise it will come out fairly easy. drill the hole out a bit then use the easy out. i used an old square kind. and i bought a roll of the cardboard type gasket material.

i would hesitate to use a liquid in this area because he amount that squeezes to the outside that you can see is also on the inside. that gunk could possibly end up somewhere in the engine or turbo.

this is a very easy gasket to cut with a razor knife.

OK...the easy out would not work at all, I took it to a machine shop. He got about 80% of it out, I think. The threads are usable, but I am not sure how much of the bottom of the insert is totally smooth. It will thread and seat, so I have to proceed because I have to put the motor in the car TODAY so i can move it to our new house tomorrow.

I will let you know if it leaks.

did you get to the dome piece? if you can get that out you should be fine.
