87 300d throttle linkage ???

I just have been through all kinds of heck with my 300d after re-charging/rebuilding the A/C. I had a shorted clutch coil in the old Compressor so that's replaced. Also I bandsawed open the Klima relay and fixed that unit.

Anyways, once the A/C was back up (Freeze 12 didn't work well for the record--60F at the vent w/30PSI on the low side) the car would kill when I let off the pedal after reving.
I finally did some experimenting and found out that when I pull the ELR it will not run at ALL. Then I remembered this...

A while back the old plastic throttle linkage end that controls the IP rack cracked. I grabbed a spare 123 metal linkage and slapped it on there.

My question is this:
How do I adjust the IP linkage? I know on a 617 if you unsnap the linkage and let go of it, the car will kill. There is a certain amount of tension to keep an idle speed. I'm assuming my 603 is the same. How do i know how long to make my metal linkage to the IP? I suppose I could experiment until I get 520RPMs or so without the ELR. Is that a good way to go?

Lastly, where in the world do I buy throttle linkages?

Got it! I adjusted the linkage until it idled around 500 rpms with ELR unplugged and good to go. Much more pedal responsive as well.

Still is a little slow idling with A/C on but I'll have to read up on the RPM sensor controls tomorrow.

Anyways, just wanted to update the thread.
