Where to get parts for a Euro 300D?
Hi, I seem to be having a bit of trouble getting parts for my car. When I order stuff from local stores (i.e. Autozone) I am getting parts that are not quite right. I have also ordered parts form mercedes that have come in and have not been right either. I think the '76 300D in th US was a w115 where as my european 300D is a w123. Should I tell places like autozone that I have a later year 300D or is there a place to get european parts? Also does anyone know of a good place to order interrior parts? OK thanks, Alex

Autozone is not the place to be shopping for major MB parts, they're probably just good for things such as motor oil, transmission fluid, washers, bolts, vacuum tube caps, etc... Try online MB parts stores for your parts, or the dealer. It's a bit tricky in your case as "76 300D" will pull up W115 parts. You might have to order parts as a "77 300D", but there are probably some minor differences between parts found on a 76 Euro spec W123 and a 77 US spec W123. I would also consider a subscription to Mercedes-Benz's EPC system. http://www.startekinfo.com/epc/
If you get the subscription for worldwide cars, you'll be able to enter your VIN and pull up proper part numbers for your early build Euro W123.

I can have my friend in Stuttgart look for parts for your car while he is digging in the local bone yard. I have him looking for things like fire extinguishers and other stuff for a few people. Let me know what you need and I will see if he can find it and how much it would cost to buy and ship from Germany.
