300D strip fuse (glo plug) longevity??

How long do the 80 amp and 50 amp strip fuses last on average?

What causes them to fail under situations that just require replacement of the strip fuse to get the car going again indefinitely?

By the way, what difference in performance or longevity between the 50 amp and 80 amp strip fuses?

1979 300D (loop style glow plugs)

Thanks

corrosion is probably the most common failure.. fatigue, age, etc will cause it to crack...

its an $.80 part carry a spare or two

80 amp is what I have in my 300TD.. might be different for the N/A and loop style plugs

Personally, I've never had one fail.

I shouldn't say stuff like that, mine will probably fail tomorrow.

Thank you, so far.

Yes I do carry spares.
In fact I had to replace one today after only 2,500 miles (11 months) of service from a new 80 amp fuse.

I am still curious to know the variables that apply to this fuse.
i.e. questions I asked.

THX

Me either....but I'm not going to say it can't fail. In fact, I bet they all will.
