How much is my 87 300D worth?

This thread is not meant to sell my car but to find out how much its worth so i can sell it.

Ive decided to sell both my Mercedes and buy a ATV, how much do you think my 300D is worth and who wants it?

It has 311,735 actual miles, i can give you the VIN and CarFax can back it up. I do have all the maintenance records up to 283,589 miles after that i cant find any in the car.
THIS CAR HAS NEVER HAD BIODIESEL OR WVO NEAR IT.

This car has only had 2 owners (3 if you count the dealer I bought it from) it has NO rust on it, it only has a few small dings in the paint from other people hitting it with doors. there is a small dent in the back left corner, a small ding in the rear bumper and the grill has a chip out of it. you can see in the pictures other little dings.
the interior in great only the arm rest is worn and the passenger seat has a small hole smaller than a dime in the side.

Everything works on this car, AC, power windows, sunroof, power seats (except for passenger head rest) cruise control. Now the things that don't work, headlight wipers, becker radio, the nets on the back of the seat are broken, outside temp display is messed up.

The Trans shifts great, this car is fast (it will drive circles around my 240D) the EGR valve "fell off" and was replaced by a block off kit, ARV has been disabled, and the ALDA has been removed because it was causing the car to be sluggish from a stop. the stock air box has been installed back in the car and the temporary cone filter tossed also the "flapper valve" has been modified to stay open. all of the stock parts will come with the car.

Now the engine, it has a small oil leak from the back top of the engine, it leaves about a golf ball diameter spot over night, the trans leaks from the sides and leaves golf ball diameter spots after driving.

I've replaced the IP delivery valve o-rings with Viton ones, i also replaced the springs and copper washers when i replace the o-rings. the oil has just been changed with Valvoline 15W40 and a Mahn filter, trans has had fuild change with Dextron 3 and new filter and gasket. new intake manifold gaskets, new injector return lines, new wastegate hose, I have a new thermostat and gasket but it has not been installed (I was going to do a coolant flush)

all the other pictures can be seen at this link

the high mileage and pinkamino interior will lower it's value, but it sounds like a nice car. if you want to sell it here, you better remove the cone filter, most here seriously consider it a flaw that will destroy the motor.
My guess is somewhere around 2500.00

Tough call, I'm not sure what a really clean W124 is worth these days. It looks to me like it needs about $3K worth of cosmetic stuff and I'm assuming the oil leak means it needs a head gasket (about $1K, I think). No offense, but I would also reinstall the correct air filter assembly before trying to sell it. I guess I would take the top price for a $300K W124 and subtract about $4K

Um, there is no way for a head gasket to cause a small visible oil leak.
perhaps a valve/cam cover gasket? -35.00 to fix.

Um, on M103 engines it's one of the most common causes of small visible oil leaks, right at the #1 cylinder.

I believe it is also fairly common on 603 engines, but I may be wrong.

Yeah it is, they usualy leak around the timing chain cavity. Mine weeps ever so slightly from that joint, just enough to make it a little dirty. I'm not doing a head gasket for that though.

I'd say $2k-$2,500.

Consider reverting the air cleaner back to stock as well. A lot of people don't like mods.

the stock air box has been replaced and the "flapper" has been modified to stay open now.

Up here that car would bring about $3500-$4000 I think.

Oh, really???

Car is decent, but to be fairly nice would "cost" quite a bit of $$$. It is still decent enough to fetch around 2K I would think, plus or minus a tad......

In what state did the previous owner register the car? That should be on the CarFax report.

If you have an all-southwestern car it will be worth more to the northerners for the lack of rust and rust-starting conditions.

You should put it on EBay and start the bidding at $2500.00 - my opinion.

Assuming that these leaks are not catastrophic, I'm guessing your winning bid will be $4200 and it will come from a bidder in the the northeast.

the car was first registered in Zion, IL in 8/10/87 and was then registered in Tucson, AZ in 7/14/94. I was expecting rust when i got it since it was in IL for that long but there is NONE! It does not show it on the CarFax yet but I just registered it in Sierra Vista, AZ last week.

I not selling this car in this thread just getting an idea of how much to list it for, when i do sell it i will post it in the "Cars" section and link it to this thread.

If anyone wants a copy of the carfax just PM me with your Email and I will send it to you.
