Anyone using Diesel Kleen?

I tried Diesel Kleen for a few tanks, and I'm sure it's the reason my car is purring like a kitten; seems to make it a lot quieter.

I called the company yesterday, they said it actually pays for itself, increases your mpg by 5%.

Anyone else try this stuff? Just want to see what results the rest of you've had.

I use it on mine, car loves it. Not sure about the MPG value though just make sure you include the amount of DK you pour into the tank. The last time I poured a whole quart in

I use the gray bottle in the summer

I use it in the summer and switch to the white bottle in the winter. If I don't the crappy fuel around here really hurts performance. I don't know if it increases mileage. I think the Lucas fuel treatment I have been adding in there as well is helping me get a couple more MPG.

I also fill the fuel filter with Diesel Kleen when I replace it. The car starts right up on it and it saves me priming the pump.

I get it all at the local Tractor Supply Store. Cheapest prices around.

BAD NEWS!! I have the word from several diesel shops that Power Service products are NOT what you want to use.. Have alcohol in em and dries up the rubber seals...

I use Stanadyne Performance Formula.... I'm gonna try some redline after this stuff's gone as it really doesn't help my mpg at all.... Just seems to add lubricity.....

Sorry, not true... heres PS FAQ...

3. Do Power Service diesel additives contain alcohol?

The only product manufactured by Power Service that contains the type of non-harmful alcohols recommended by engine manufacturers for removal of water is Power Service Diesel 911. Diesel 911, as its name implies, is used to solve the fuel emergencies diesel engine operators most commonly encounter. In winter, Diesel 911 reliquefies gelled fuel and de-ices frozen fuel-filters in a matter of minutes, eliminating the need for a tow truck. Diesel 911 also removes water from the fuel system to prevent icing problems and extend the life of fuel-filters, fuel injection pumps and fuel injectors.

No other Power Service product contains any alcohols of any kind, including Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost and Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost.

another diesel kleen question

I've used diesel kleen for several years, moreso in the winter to prevent gelling. Been running home made bio for the past 18 months and skipping the diesel kleen (DK from hereout). Since the bio gels at a higher temp than petroleum diesel, I added DK to the pure stuff. Didn't seem to help. If I run 70% bio and 30% petroleum and a bit of DK, all is well (down to last witner's low of 8 degrees). Seems to work for me ----- any thoughts on this from more knowledgable folks? On another note, is my question what is considered 'pirating' another's thread (or whater that forum term is)? Or is this PC on this forum? IF so, my apologies.

But does it really do anything besides changing combustion sound?

Did they say "by 5%" or "up to 5%". If they can increase my mpg by 5%, I'll buy it. If it is "up to 5%" no thanx. There is a huge difference between the two. We have electric superchargers that increase power "by up up to 10%". IOW 0-10% means if you get nothing they are still legally correct.

Yes. No increase in mpg. Biodiesel gets the engine quieter but no mpg. Drop after B40.

I didn't quiz him on the "up to" or "you will get" 5%. I asked about it because they have it on the bottle that the product pays for itself with increased fuel mileage. The reason is (I hope I'm re-explaining this right), is that it increases your cetane numbers, and the diesel fuel explodes a fraction of a second earlier or something. Best call them for a clarification. You can google them.

I see no increase in MPG with the DK. I do see it with the Lucas Fuel Treatment I am getting about 2 to 3 mpg more with the LFT. I use the DK to help increase the cetane from the crappy under 40 ULSD to hopefully up to around 42-43. Remember MB recommends a cetane of 50 at least in the 617.

I use the LFT to increase the lubricity.

Here is a quote from their page: Decreases fuel consumption up to 8 percent — fuel savings exceed cost of additive

So, if you get no gain and spend money in that snake oil, it is still valid because it gives UP TO 8%. Now if the site said "Decreases fuel consumption BY 8 percent — fuel savings exceed cost of additive", I'll accept that it is true.

I use the Power Services in the white jug, about 3/4 oz/gal and a pint or so of Marvel Mystery oil per tank. I use waste Jet A1, which is real clean kerosene, I don't notice any difference from diesel. When I do have to buy diesel, I use the same recipe. The 350 seems to like it.

How much power service would you need to use per gal. to achieve a cetane level of 50

Thanks Jim

Recipe is on the bottle and probably the website too.

I've used it in my 99 as well as Redline 85. Both quiet my idle, but so does as little as B1. I tend to use the Redline more in the winter months when the idle gets a little rougher as it sometimes gets as cold as 40F at night.
