A Real Champion, A Real Gem

Notice the guys feedback. Only needs $600 worth of bodywork and paint. It looks way worse than my 300TD did and I can tell you know $600 isn't going to buy you much in professional body work. Read it all, what a laugh. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&category=6330&sspagename=FavMerch_SO%3ASI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330163035063

I was looking at that auction yesterday and I swear that there was only one bid and it was at $3000. Today its 5 bids and its at $1125.

I'll be watching this one closely, since I also have an 85 that I need to sell in similar condition.

FWIW, the exterior on mine is covered with rust, but there are no holes into the cabin, except under the spare tire (floor pans are fine). The rust is a real heartbreaker, because the engine, tranny and interior are so nice.

Agreed that this guys description is full of it. He's not lying per se, but he does omit things. He's also hyping meaningless crap, but there is no law against the use of adjectives in car sales.

Hey, what's a little rust? After all you are buying a "maintenance free" car according to his claim.

What the hell is up with that hitch ball bolted into the bumper?

Good way to lose a bumper.

It`s not the rust you see that is the problem, it`s the rust you don`t see that is the problem.
I think the guy forgot to add the extra zero to the body repair.

typical e-bay words. "ever so powerful, bullet proof, maintenance free, easy fix, surface rust, etc...

That is a very tired example. Put it under a lift, but it has a ton of soft spots.

Can you imagine trying to loosen any bolt that is under the car. That thing is probably rusted up solid underneath. And I bet that engine ain't pretty either.
It is a shame that a pretty nice interior is wrapped up in that Titanic-like package.......
Oh, and never-mind the 99,000 mile odometer discrepancy.....
The funniest line in the whole ad "Yes, I am a car dealer" REALLY?????

Mine ends Monday, no third seat, structual rust has been cut out and new metal welded in. This took a lot of time last summer and I will never do it again. I'm actually getting good at it, making up templets, cutting, welding, etc... but it takes time and is hard on my 44 year old body. I've got 3 kids, twin 2.5 year old boys and a 7 year old daughter. If someone came to me with a car and said hey do this for rust repair and paint it for $600 I'd say ya right. FYI, my reserve is only $1,600 on my car which seems fair to me. Its a good beater wagon for someone who wants to experiment with WVO and is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-Mercedes-300TD-Diesel-Wagon-WVO_W0QQitemZ320153792922QQihZ011QQcategoryZ6330QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Some 300TD’s just look plain old worn out an tired and neglected, this car has a nice classy look.
