GP relay in "late into early"swap

I will be installing an "80" 616 engine into a manual, "78" 240D and cant quite see what I will do when it comes time to wire up the GP harness to the "under dash" relay of the "78". When I put the "80" engine my 79 I had a push button already in use and stuck with that. I would need to put the second water temp sensor in the head? Of course I could do another push button..Anyone dealt with this? Or is it something that will become viable when I get there

Just make jumper wires to go between the glowplugs and attach it to the GP relay. Don't use the ground strap.

Sounds good, thanks. It was easy going the other way, early engine into later body, just "plug and play"

Wait a minute, there is a sensor in the head of the early 616s for the GP relay, easy enough to take out the plug and install one, but I cant see how to wire it all up

I am running my car the same way FI has suggested and it works fine. Both the early 616 and the late 617 I swapped in had the two sensors in the block (coolant temp and GP).

Humm The early one I have has the sensors in the head. I haven't even looked at the GP relay, maybe theres a place for the sensor wire, it'l work one way or another, its nice to be looking forward to fall projects.
