Question A few questions for the PRO'S here 1983 300SD

My first question ..
Picture 1 and 2. What are the odds of having problems with the cruise control modulator? The unit under the kick pad came back from the repair shop this week and they found nothing wrong with it...Odd isn't it?

Second question...Im trying to resolve a Small oil leak issue from the valve cover in picture 3.I have replaced the gasket a few months ago,and I feel that Ive reach its maximum in tightening the valve cover bolts, any suggestions?

Last question. When replacing the antenna, does the plastic feeder cable go around the small wheel in the antenna unit when antenna is going in?
Best regards
Dan

I'm no pro, but for the antenna mast question, go to this link. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/car-audio-multimedia/79908-diy-page-complete-antenna-mast-replacement.html#post1404280.

My cruise control amplifier and actuator have been out in CA at GDL labs for repair. Perform a seach for cruise control on this forum and a link to his website will come up. He has a trouble shooting checklist that is very helpful diagnosing the problem. Here's his link. http://www.gdl-online.com/testproc.html

Can't help with the third issue.

I would pull the valve cover back off, clean the snot out of the gasket with degreaser. also clean the valve cover and the head then put it back together. it looks like oil is flowing from the top of the gasket. you could also have a leak on the top of the valve cover that is causing oil to dribble to that spot. check the vent tube and the oil fill cap.

Just thought about this some more. Be SURE after you clean the gasket, that when you put it on the valve cover, it fits all the way around! those twists and turns along the front tend to allow oil under if it's not perfect!
