Thant's good news - and it IS a great looking and running car. BUT I do feel it is time for me to sell it (for other reasons). I am an MB nut (still keeping my 83 308SL) but I'd love for this to go to a fellow Diesel man.

I Agree with everybody. take it to a body shop and they can probably save most if not all of the panels. It looks like it was just cosmetic damage (trunk lid, rear bumper, left 1/4 panel) Hey the tail lights didn't even break! I would hate to see her scrapped for parts (even though she is the same color of my car and that front bumper looks tasty)

A neighbor and friend where I used to live had a body shop. My 1985 Diesel Jetta got rear ended much worse than that and was totaled by the other driver's insurance company. They paid me $3200 and I got to keep the car (I had it listed for sale at $2495 at the time).

I took it to my friend and in two hours you couldn't tell it was hit. It is amazing what a skilled person can do with a frame jack.

My '85 has 309,000 and runs like new. I get 22 around town and up to 25 on the highway. 30+ on these cars is unrealistic.

I find it odd that you would fail to even mention the accident in your listing, unless you consider mentioning that the trunk lock doesn't work your "disclosure".......

It seemed really obvious with the pictures which detail the body damage! All cars are sold with flaws, problems etc. If you are looking at a car with photos detailing rear end damage, it seems to me that it should be taken into account. Additionally, the carfax reprt will report this and all other situations with this and any other car.

However, I did add the obvious - that it was rearended, tho I'd be amazed if someone looking at the body did not see this).

You offer a vehicle on e-bay that was recently in a rear end collision that has effectively totalled it, and you choose to ignore this fact in the listing?

You can be assured that you won't be selling it to someone on the forum.........and, I'd advise you to pull the e-bay listing or you're in for some nasty feedback if and when it's sold.

Actually, I was very open about what happened to this forum, and asked for advice. On person actually recommended that I pull out the hits so it would get more $$$s in the sale. I chose to not do cosmetic bodywork, figuring that THAT was more reprehensible than simply showing the car in it's true condition.

Carfax has the accident report, so it's a non-issue re: buyer. Finally, feedback happens after the purchase, and it realtes to the sale, not the condition. For instance, I bought a car on ebay a few yeasrs ago that promptly needed thousands of dollars worth of work on the engine. My feedback was excellent for the seller - after all, it's not his fault that the engine needed work. I'm sure that my excellent feedback over the last 6 years will not be impunged by a buyer not noting the dents and dings, however small and large, etc.

It's a nonissue since I've noted the rearend.

How many folks will go and get a Carfax for a vehicle that costs less than $2K? And, will Carfax be so efficient that they'll immediately post such a collision without a delay of three months?

Feedback relates to the expectations of the buyer versus the condition of the product.

Your modification of the listing, after the fact, is noted.
