I am replacing the heater hoses in my 81 240D, the hose from the block to the firewall and the hose from the heater core return to waterpump. question is which hose is correct there are alot of them on autohuasaz.com.

engine serial number but i dont know mine so is it

I'm pretty sure the other one i need is 1238321594

Your best bet is to visualize the hose from under the hood. The only # I can find is stamped on the front of the head, but I think that's it's own number.

You will need to find your engine number. Apparently 81 was some form of transition year for 240D's. Give me no end of trouble looking up parts for mine. Recently I resorted to taking digital pic's of the radiator hoses on mine to match up with parts offered by Fastlane because of this problem. If you have a digital camera I suggest you do the same. I actually simply bypassed my heater in the end as well. But I live in Phoenix where a heater is a useless item anyway.
