Is that ULSD in those lines? It looks different for brand new lines. Or did they just change out the o-rings and keep the old lines? Line 95 seems like it has a minor kink line in it by the spin on.
How is the progress now?

I have started the car several times this evening, notice I said started, not tried to start! It appears the O ring in the prefilter made a difference. I took the car for a short drive of about 5 miles to get it hot, then let is sit for 15 mins and it still started. It is taking the whole start cycle or occasionally a little more but it IS starting. Looking at the lines while running I can still see air in them and it still has that nagging hesitation during acceleration. But at least NOW IT WILL START. I can't thank you gentlemen enough, you are geniuses. I could not have done it without you.

Since you found the pre-filer seal was bad, assume the others are too and check the remaining lines.
It is possible that if you are only seeing a couple of tiny bubbles going by that it is residual air trapped in the fuel system. If you see anything even 1/8 the size of the bubble in your photos you still have a problem. Glad you are making progress.

This is very typical...it's also typical that the pros will want to sell you the most expensive part when all that is wrong is a handful of o-rings need replacement...just keep at it and you'll get it all done. Drive it for a while to try and purge the air out then if you are still getting some start looking for other o-rings that are bad.
This is why we said start with the pre-filter...I can't tell you how many times that stupid little o-ring has caused tons of heartache.

I will gladly follow your advice, I still have significant air when it is running and I'm sure that is what is causing the hesitation but I will pursue it and get it eventually. Thanks again.

I'm very late to this party, and I skimmed through the thread not as thoroughly as I should, but if you didn't change the lift pump (fuel pump - NOT the injection pump) I would still strongly recommend it.
On my '95, the job was easy and solved all kinds of strange operational problems I was having. Ever open the fuel tank and have a big woosh? Rgds, Chris W. '95 E300D, 242K |

Haven't noticed a whoosh when opening the tank. Have taken the car on a trip and it has performed flawlessly. Gauge reads empty so I will refuel tomorrow morning. Current mileage on this tank is 545. I had hoped for 600. I will look for bubbles when I get home tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help.

If the car starts well and performs well when nearly empty that's a good sign that no air is getting into it...
545 from a tank is not too bad...depending on how much fuel it will take it is probably in the high 20s to 30 MPG. I find when my reserve light comes on it takes 18± gallons and goes from 500 to 600 miles typically to get there.
