Where are the window relays found in a 300D

I have two of my windows that all of the sudden decided to stop working. The switch works since I tested it. I checked the electrical diagram and it shows for my vehicle a 1985 two window relays within the electrical circuit. Does anyone know where I can find them? The window that does not work is front passenges and rear driver. Any suggestions?

Thanks

First: check the fuse.

AFAIK, there are no relays for the windows. the switches do it all. and the switches are not sealed, so crud builds up in them. look for the thread about cleaning them.

oh, and click the User CP link at the top of the page, add in your location and your model and year of vehicle... it will help with your questions.
what year is your 300D? 74? 78? 84? 91? any idea?

Good advice in general about including vehicle information. That said, the opening post does specify 1985.

my bad.
I did not see it in reading the thread. it is better in the signature or at the beginning of the thread. in the title field is good too.

check out b in your fuse box (next to the #2 fuse), it controls the LR and RR windows. The relay is behind the instrument cluster.

Windows and fuses...

Noble Forum Fellow,

My 85's have windows wired the same -- no relays. For whatever reason, MB designed these things to be fused diagonally: one 8A controls LF and RR, another 8A RF and LR. I learned this the hard way one day when I hit "opposite" switches to get the hot air out. Windows RF and LR went down about 2 inches then stopped.

After about an hour of tearing one of the doors apart to get at the guts , I remembered years ago my Porsche had a gen idiot light that refused to go out. That alternator had to be torn out from under the car after removing a bunch of gear. Bench tested OK. I was about to throw my tool box in the lake when I somehow got inspired to check the ceramic fuses. These things, when they blow, sometimes do not look like it. Removing what looked like a perfectly good fuse, the metallic strip fell into two pieces. I replaced the ten cent fuse and the light went out. So, whose's the real idiot?

I never do anything on any car now without FIRST checking the fuses.

Oh, and I always swap out those aluminum or silver metal looking ones for something bronze or copper.

Good luck. If your problem is not the fuse, we go into Round 2...
