240d manual transmission mount replacement step by step or diy link?

i searched the diy articles and couldn't find any info...no luck with google either...someone help me out. i changed the engine mounts and it improved the idle and the noise 100%. with a step by step or link. when i shift there is a clunk and when i go over a bump i can feel the stickshift seesawing in my hand until the car settles again...would that be the mount? i drove 30 miles at 65-70mph and when i got off the interstate there was a kinda high pitched grinding noise when i accelerated (but only when i accelerated in gear and not in neutral...and not at all when coasting but quieter when decelerating? transmission, driveshaft, what????? thanks.

man these old benzes handle so nice and just float along...they make new cars just feel wrong somehow. i have a wrangler (tj) and it is like night and day between the two...the benz is just luxurious feeling.

Lift and secure car on appropriately sized jack stands. place jack under tranny to support it. unbolt mount, replace. let tranny off jack. let car off jackstands.

crack open a cold one to celebrate, german of course.

Simple job. I doubt you will have any problems doing it with only simple metric tools.

If I were you I'd plan to replace your flexdisk. The flexdisk is easiest to replace with the crossmember and mount out. $30-40 well spent if it hasn't been replaced recently.

Jack the transmission! 2 (17mm) bolts undo the crossmember from the frame, one (19mm) nut frees the mount and crossmember from the transmission, and then two smaller (13mm ) bolts separate the mount from the crossmember. Replace mount, leaving 13mm bolts slightly loose.

Unbolt and replace flexdisk (15 and 17 mm, possibly allen heads here). Put crossmember and mount back in place, fasten and tighten all nuts and bolts.

Then take for a test drive and see what has changed.
