oil on air conditioner

Lost a whole bunch of oil on my trip down to Chicago. Oil is covering the bottom of a part tied into the sepertine belt that has a label that say 'refrigerent system' and the block above it. I cleaned it all off tonight to track it down. Any general ideas?

Before anyone chimes in w/ suggestions, you will need to mention the year & model you are talking about. Adding that info. to your signature is very helpful.
